When I was the sole designer at the founding of Vectary, there were no established rules or processes for tools or file storage. Sketch quickly became the go-to design tool for our company, thanks to its innovative user interface.

I loved Sketch so much, because it disrupted the market with design software by whole new experience in user interface.

All of our designs were stored and shared in Google Drive folders, which could only be accessed by those with Sketch and a macOS device. To allow others to preview our designs, we had to use an external app like Invision. I handled HTML and CSS coding for the first two years, but as the company grew and we hired more designers, we had to delegate tasks and collaborate with a new front-end developer.

Scaling the team

As the company grew and we added more designers to our team, we began to experience difficulties when working on the same files. Our product, Vectary, is a single-page app, which required close collaboration between designers. It was impossible to keep track of who was editing a specific Sketch file and to prevent overwriting by another designer. This made it difficult for us to maintain the same workflow.

The real-time collab proved to be a game-changer

I was sceptical that any Sketch alternative could offer the same quality, but I was wrong. Figma offered a similar toolset with a better user experience in many cases. The lack of plugins was not a major concern for us, as we only used a few. The standout feature that convinced us to switch was a real-time collaboration with our colleagues. It works seamlessly and as expected. The transition to Figma was smooth and occurred in a single day.”

Figma can convert all Sketch files to their format by drag&dropping to the dashboard. Easy and quick.

Real-time collaboration remains a unique feature in design software, and it is also one of the most important. Vectary was the first 3D design tool to offer real-time collaboration. This feature allows colleagues or students to instantly see visual previews of changes as they are made and to easily provide feedback via comments. It is a valuable tool for getting feedback from managers or clients.

Vectary is like Google docs in 3D modeling software thanks to real-time collaboration and cloud storage.

Figma for the Entire Company

At Vectary, we have 15 editors and we use Figma for everything from designing our online 3D modeling software and websites to creating marketing materials, icons, and workspace layouts. From designers and developers to HR, CTO, and CEO, everyone in our company uses Figma on a daily basis. Thanks to shared folders and view access, the entire company has access to all the materials they need.

The Best Tool for UX/UI Design

To be honest, the perfect tool for design doesn’t exist and it never will. The best we can do is to select the tools that best meet our needs and use a combination of them. Our changing requirements led us to stop using Sketch as our primary design tool.

The Future of Online Tools

At Vectary, we believe that cloud solutions will disrupt every market in the near future. The future belongs to accessible solutions that simplify processes, allow people to collaborate, utilize unlimited hardware resources in the cloud, and prioritize exceptional user experiences with quick results. That’s why our 3D modeling software, Vectary, is also available online.

Figma is the best tool for UX/UI as the same as Vectary is the best 3D modeling software.
